Tuscany is a paradise for beach lovers of all kinds!
The coastal areas not only offer a variety of beautiful beaches, but are also often flanked by many of the region's most enchanting towns. From historic gems with long sandy beaches to hidden rocky coves, you are sure to find a beach location that is perfect for your summer adventure.
Tuscany not only offers countless highlights on the mainland. A couple of beautiful islands also belong to this region. These are often forgotten when talking about Tuscany.
The seven islands of the Tuscan Archipelago are: the famous Isola D 'Elba, Isola del Giglio, Pianosa, Capraia, Isola di Giannutri, Isola di Gorgona and Isola di Montecristo.
The beaches of Tuscany are usually divided into individual sections, so-called "Bagni". These Bagni are beach baths that are subject to a fee and offer the following services: deck chairs with parasols, showers and changing rooms, cafes and restaurants as well as sports facilities. But there are also many free beaches between the "bagnis".
Versilia
Forte dei Marmi is one of the most popular holiday resorts on the Tuscan coast and is at the same time the flagship of the Versilia region with well-equipped, extensive beaches, with spectacular views of the Apuan Alps, elegant beach resorts and a night life that focuses on the beautiful beach promenade. For a long time, this place has been particularly popular with aristocrats and industrialists and is still an important reference point for the international jet set.
Lido di Camaiore is located between Marina di Pietrasanta and Viareggio; There are many shops, cafés and restaurants on the beach promenade.
The Etruscan Coast
The area between Livorno and Piombino offers a great variety of landscapes and beaches for every taste. Here you will find long sandy beaches, but also beautiful rocky coasts.
Quercianella
is a holiday destination with a very special charm that comes up with rocky stretches of coast, pebble beaches and quiet little bays that are protected by vegetation. The harbour has a convenient dock for boats. The rich seabed attracts snorkelers and divers in particular.
Against the backdrop of unspoiled nature, the beaches of the Gulf of Baratti are not far from important Etruscan and Roman remains. A "not to be missed" excursion - it offers the best of the Etruscan coast.
Cala Violina
is the flagship of the Maremma of Grosseto, a pearl in the middle of the dense vegetation of the nature reserve of Bandite di Scarlino. The beautiful, unspoilt beach can only be reached on foot or by mountain bike.
